A Lifetime of Gulfport. A Future for Ward 2.
I have called Gulfport home my entire life. I am a product of the Gulfport School District and a proud 1978 graduate of Gulfport High. I have been a Ward 2 resident since 1991. This city is not a backdrop to my story. It is my story.
For 38 years, I served as an educator, 30 of them right here in the Gulfport School District as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and athletics director. I had the privilege of coaching the 2002 5A State Championship boys basketball team, representing Bayou View Middle School when it was honored as a National Blue Ribbon School in Washington, and earning induction into the Gulfport Sports Hall of Fame.
My wife Kellee has been by my side in this community for 35 years. We are longtime members of First United Methodist Church of Gulfport and active in this community through organizations such as the Kiwanis Club.
Ward 2 deserves a voice that knows it, lives it, and is fully committed to it. I am asking for your support, your prayers, and when the time comes, your vote.
— Bryan Caldwell
The special election for the Gulfport City Council, Ward 2, will be held on June 9, 2026. Polls will be open at the Westside Community Center (4006 8th Street) and the Francis X. Collins Lifetime Fitness Center (2204 Swetman Road) from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
I believe in service above self. For 30 years, that meant showing up for Gulfport’s students as a teacher, a coach, a principal, and an athletics director. It meant late nights, early mornings, championship seasons, and the quiet work nobody saw. Now, after a lifetime spent serving Gulfport’s students, I am running to serve my neighbors. Ward 2 deserves a councilman who has spent his career proving that service above self is not a slogan, but a standard.
A career spent serving the public, leading institutions, managing budgets, and building consensus. As a teacher, head coach, principal, and athletics director in the Gulfport School District, I navigated school boards, civic partnerships, capital projects, and community relationships throughout my career. That work included helping chair the $41.2 million Gulfport High School bond campaign that transformed Gulfport High into a statewide model. From day one, I will arrive at City Hall prepared to do the work.
Public safety, economic development, and infrastructure. Safe neighborhoods are the foundation of a strong community, and our Police and Fire Departments deserve our full support. Responsible economic development strengthens our tax base, supports local businesses, and brings opportunity to Gulfport families. And the basics matter. Modernizing aging water and drainage systems, maintaining our roads, and investing in our parks and public spaces. The work that doesn’t make headlines, but defines what it means to live here.
